Last week, I said that this newsletter might be a little late because of the work needed to produce the map I had planned. It is later than I like, but I am pleased to have finished the first of a set of maps of the time of Jeremiah.
Next week, God willing, there will be another micro-tale about a man from the time of Jesus. The "hero" is a Samaritan man who was sick. Can you guess what his problem was? There are other Samaritans mentioned in the New Testament: can you think of any? How many can you find?
Map of Judah and surrounds
In a previous newsletter, I included a list of places from the time of Jeremiah – particularly from the book of Jeremiah – as extra information for the series “Terror on Every Side! The Life of Jeremiah”. This newsletter contains the first of the three proposed maps: a map of the land of Israel and the closest surrounding nations in around 600BC.
Most of the cities or towns named in Jeremiah are from Judah’s closest neighbours: Philistia, Ammon, Moab and Edom, and these are included in the map where their location is known.
Using the same divisions as in the previous newsletter, the map includes the following places (except for those whose location is noted as unknown).
